Long as they are root pruned every few years and canopy trimmed to match less roots they can go on and on.

If not -

By not root pruning waterings will just sit on top and flow down the sides of pot and out bottom not really penetrating to its interior, production of figs will start to drop and even fall off plant and the roots themselves will slowly strangle the life out of tree as they circle tighter and tighter with each passing season

Its a slow death to plant not to root prune fig plants in containers.

I use the method of fertilizing that you mentioned a few times on these forum which is half strength of MG once week I really have exelent results .

I wonder if I should flash the roots and soil in containers once in a while to rinse the acumulated salts from the fertilizer ? Is there a way of noticing on the plant or its leaves that something is wrong because I did have some small white spots on the leaves ?

Actually the spots are not white they are a little lighter in color I am including the picture .

You are doing a great job growing them! You must have a system that works.

You can keep fig trees in 5 or 7 gal containers indefinitely. You would need to re-pot, change soil, root prune and balance prune every 2 years at least.

I do try to root prun fig trees that are in 5 gallon container every 3 years.

I am thinking to buy air feyer of Ronde de Bordeaux in March, will you have one ?

Ronde De Bordeaux another very good tasting fig and reliable here in our cold climate.

It is a very good growing plant as well.
