I went away for a few weeks about a month ago and left very specific instructions for my housemate about watering my plants. In his panic to keep them alive, I think he may have over watered everything and I think my amaryllis is rotting. I have had this bulb for 3 or 4 years and thus far it's been a pretty happy plant. It's around time for it to start hibernating anyway, but the leaves are wilting in a different way to previous years. I just took it out of the pot and half of the bottom of the bulb was squishy and red...
Does anyone know if I can save my bulb? I have cut away the rotting bits with sterilized implements, removed other scaly bits and its now sitting in a dry spot on a book shelf on some paper towel. Would anyone have any advice they could give me? Any help would be welcome, I'd be sad to lose this bulb..
