Missing plant

For the hurricane I put all my potted plants in the woods next lot over and everything road out fine. After I brought most back out but not all. I've been very busy with work since the storm and haven't had a chance to do any gardening till to day. So I started by getting the rest of my plants out of the woods. Can't find my chaya before the storm it was ready to go to ground so I was planning on putting it in the ground today. But it's gone don't know what happened to it. Maybe the storm blow it away? I don't really know. Just a mystery.

    I bet some kind of animal ate it. And likely dragged it off before it ate it, that's why you can't find the pot. I bet it could even be a gopher tortoise.

      Nope,no foot prints. It's a very hard to get to that place you can only get to it from my yard way back on the side and no way to get to it with out passing the front window. But I haven't been home a lot so who knows someone one could have gone back there. I guess I start looking for another one.

      Not sure this will make you feel any better - but I lost my chaya in the hurricane also. It wasn't in a pot - but it was staked from falling over in last year's storm. Just fell over again! Chopped it up and threw it out. Lovely plant but .....

      I had a huge one in the ground before Irma. I knew it was doomed but couldn't do anything. Yep, it blew over. A week later I finally got around to chopping the heck out of it and with the help of my husband we righted it and staked what was left. I think I've watered it twice...bad mom...but it is still coming back.

      sorry for your loss, Glenn, maybe your mystery will be solved at some point. You shouldn't have a problem getting a cutting from someone.

      Someone stole my heliconia out of my backyard...pot and all. How they knew it was back there i have no idea.

      Found it. Went in to a empty lot 8 lots north of me past the only house that way. It was 10ft up in a oak tree. My guess is the hurricane picked it up and that's where it landed. It's still alive! I'm putting it to ground tomorrow.

      I put it to ground and I gave it a friend the other leaf type(small 1 on left) both in same hole hope it works out. I got the 2nd type to replace the 1st but only have room for 1 so I'm trying 2 in 1 hole if both take it should be a interesting looking Bush.i know it's hard to tell from pic but the leaves are totally different. But same type of plant.

      Chaya is a super resilient plant. Every piece I've ever stuck of it in the ground takes. I even stuck a 6' tall piece in the ground and it rooted
