Yay! I am glad you found one! I know how it is to be on the hunt for so long.

Have fun jinny. There is this pummelo from back home locally called "Batabi Lebu" that grows to a size bit smaller than a soccer ball and is reddish/pinkish inside. Little sweet, mostly tart and a bit of bitterness. As kids we used to have it with sugar and as adults with salt and black pepper. Unlike here in US, in India it is common to have anything sour with salt and black pepper. One fruit used to be more than enough for 4 kids. There used to be this saying: do not go playing under that tree (about 15ft high in grandmom's place) because you may come back without your head. Oh, those fun times.

Congrats on finding one! It’s actually the only Pomelo I would try to grow - I’ve seen it described as vanilla limeade in flavor with a touch of lemon and it’s a handsome tree for a Pomelo too! Keep us updated on how it does for you!

Thank you, Sammers, Tropic, and Pac! Tropic, thanks for sharing a bit from your childhood memories. I need to look that variety up! Thankfully this Tahitian Pummelo is grafted to a Dwarf rootstock.. Lol.. Pac, that description sounds delicious, very unique! Do you have room to grow one?

Unfortunately I’m limited to what I can fit on the landing out to my roof, so about 4 trees. Right now that’s a Lakeland, a Marrakech, a Rangpur, and a very crispy lemon. Maybe some day in a bigger house or I️ ever give up on lemons!

Hirado Buntahn Pummelo in full bloom. The flowers are huge and smell so intoxicating. . I was awake at 3:00 am, this morning, needed to stoke the fire with wood to heat the underground gh, and could not help but stop and take a whiff of this lovely flower.. My favorite! ♡

Laura, How many Meyer's do you have exactly ? Do your daughters each lay claim to one? Just how many do you really need?? Lol.. You knew the day was coming when you needed to drag all of the trees in the house.. Good thing you have a big home with lots of windows and light. :) I think you need to save up for a gh.. You would get lots of enjoyment out of it and it would save you from a lot of back pain down the road.. :)

I only grow the pink, seedless pomelo... Chandler; the Sarawak. or whatever name you call it...white, with seeds, etc has no space on my farms.

Jinny, I have FOUR meyer lemon trees! Two of them - Alexander and Jane are “married”, and are among our favorites ;-). My younger daughter takes care of all the names and tree logistics - who likes who, etc ..lol. The other two are also very nice trees and loaded with lemons. I’ve had them a while and don’t think I could part with them. I get attached, what can I say. That pomelo does sound incredible. I looked on the OGW site and it looks like they have a decent stock right now. I will wait till you get your tree and may also wait till I finally get to taste my Oroblanco, which should be almost ready. Although the description of that one sounds divine....;-)

Guys - I’m still thinking about that oummelo! I’ve never even tasted one.

Sammers - I wanted to mention that I recently bought some Meyer lemons from the grocery store and they were terrible. Watery, bland, blah yellow orbs. The lemons from my Meyer are delicious, still tart, but with slightly less edge and full of flavor. I was really intrigued by the sweet limes, but then I read that some people described them as ‘inspidid’ and I reconsider. That I exactly how I would have described these lemons.

Alanna, the Meyers I’ve bought in the past have also been nothing like the ones I grow.

Laura, that is really sweet. ♡ I don't blame you, I get easily attached also, they are like your babies, you nurture them and watch them grow and in return they reward you with tasty fruit!

True..Grocery store produce usually tastes nothing like what you can grow fresh in your own garden. ♡

Alanna, If you don't live in citrus country and would like to taste a really good Pummelo, than I would suggest that you order a few fresh Pummelo online from Pearson Ranch or another farm that picks and ships fruit and citrus when in season.. PR has a lot of great reviews and a few people on this forum have ordered from them.. :)

John, how do you like the Chandler? I have a small liner size and it will be a few years before I get fruit.. Seeds in citrus and other fruit do not bother me as long as the fruit are delicious. I do not mind taking out or spitting out a few seeds.. :)

Well I just ordered one too. Assume you've gotten yours by now. Is it nice/healthy/etc?
