Entry Design Dilemma Dining Room

Help design formal dining to something else

As we enter the house, we have formal dining which we do not use .
It has been sitting empty for a year .
We already have family room as well formal living for sitting areas . So do not want to add more furniture.
What can I do to use the formal dining?
I already have basement for pool table as well as for office/library.
How will a bar look ? What other ideas?
Please help. Thanks

I had a very small dining room. I turned mine into a study. I had a formal living room and a family room right next to each other. The family room was next to the kitchen, so I made it our dining room and the formal living room got turned into the family room because I don't live formally. Now all the rooms are used - which is the point. A room unused is very expensive real estate. So think about how you live and what you need and the answer should be obvious. I use my dining room and by having it next to the kitchen and next to the living/family it now flows.
