I WS'd some before. However, I had a terrible photosensitive reaction to Rue, please look into this issue if you really want to have rue in your herb garden.

I've read some about this but this won't be in an herb garden.

It will be closer to a field where I hope to start a butterfly garden. I just wondered if it would germinate being WS. I'll keep my distance and be careful and wear gloves if I must do anyhing near it. It is supposed to be a magnet for some butterflys. Thank you very much for answering. Hopefully I won't be sorry for planting them.

Cool. Please be careful not to touch it. After the festering subsided I had a brown mark for a year on the inside of my forearm.

It has wintersown well for me.

A suggestion. Throw in a few orange tiger lilies. Had a volunteer, probably from a bird dropped seedling or squirrel movement, which was loved by many varieties of butterflies, including giant black swallowtails. The lilies will spread via the dropped seeds growing along the stem. I don't like orange blooms but I do like butterflies so it stayed and multiplied.

That is so interesting. I do have day lilies coming back every year but the tiger lilies sounds like it's definitely worth a try.
