Hello everyone!

I am a long time lurker and am in great need of some advice for my first place! I don't move in until the end of June.

I'll start out with a quick background on myself. I am a single guy, 26, living in Houston working in the Oil/Gas Industry.

For personal style, I'm a bit mixed. Clothing wise I'm anywhere from dark jeans/chino shorts and nice t shirt to business wear (not suit though). If I were to sum it up, I aim for dappered yet fun. I'm not afraid to add some bright or bold colors either.

With furniture and decoration, I don't think I can narrow it down to one genre or style. I like modern (but not too modern), a good amount of colors, eclectic in a sense that not everything has to have the same style, yet I still want to keep it on the masculine side. I suppose something like a dark base of main furniture with colors thrown in to brighten it up is what I'm after. Cool/creative/colorful/fun, yet still resembles a bachelor apartment.

For furniture I'm bringing from my current place,the list is pretty small since it is the remaining stuff from grad school. I'm basically going to start with an almost blank canvas.
- Entertainment center: I have a black tv stand with brushed stainless accents,with a 55" plasma.
- Living room: IKEA Lack coffee table and two end tables in light tan finish
- Bedroom: Metal fold-up bed frame, antique dark cherry dresser.

And folks, that's it for furniture coming with me haha.

I want to do this in stages over time, so I am not in a rush to get all of the rooms taken care of in one go. I would like to start with the living room and dining room. I have attached a pic of the couch I am pretty set on getting, the IKEA Karlstad in Sivik dark gray. I think it will go well with the tv stand and leaves me with a good base to start with, but I am all open to other suggestions. For a dining table, I'd like to keep it a rectangle to not encroach on the entryway.

Hopefully I can get some guidance on where to go for making this place my own. I'm eager to hunt for things but I don't really know how to start. Thank you!
