I rented mine for 2 years then bought it only because we didn't want to move and couldn't find anything as good in the area that was affordable even if we did want to move. I've owned it 3 years now and like it more than I did in the beginning. I only expected to own it about a year but ended up doing things that made it better and plan on staying a few more years. The neighborhood has turned out to be better than any others around as far as I can tell.

Ours was always pretty good, but we have renovated and customized it into near perfection. I dread the day I cannot take the stairs easily...

do you have the space for a stair lift? thats our plan. we could also take out the back stairs and have an elevator for basement to second floor.

it always seems to make more sense to do a stair lift than to upset the whole layout of a house by putting a full bath and bedroom on the first floor, and lose use of all what you have on the second floor.

We are in our fourth home in 21 years. It's beautiful but not the most comfortable I've had. We are discussing purchasing land now to put a custom home on in a few years so we can have exactly what we want.

First home and better than expected with all the work I've done. But, I really don't like my neighborhood and contemplating leaving for a better neighborhood, better views, but for a fixer upper!

I thought my house was okay when I moved in. Not my style, but under the circumstances of the time, a fair choice. A "good house". Now, 23 years later, it's in nowhere near as good condition as frankly I can't afford the maintenance. But there has been so much living and loving and joy and heartbreak here that I have struck roots and we are old friends. And it still has its geat "position, position, position".

We've been in our house for 38 years, chose the location, lot, & floor plan. Even though our 3 grown kids' families visit often, it is too big for us on a day-to-day basis! BUT it would be hard to sell and move; we like our neighborhood, & there are so many wonderful memories in this house and we continue to make wonderful memories! Our kids think of it as their family home, which it is. I think they'd miss it as much as we would. We just wish it was as easy to take care of as it was when we were much younger! Oh, it is a 2-story house, and wish it was a ranch style now, & had a first floor laundry instead of the washer & dryer in the basement. Who needs to exercise when there are so many trips up and down the stairs!!

I love my current home, perfect weather, wonderful neighbors & a location that is the envy of everyone who finds out where it’s located ( beach, So California), HOWEVER it’s a two story & I think as I get older I will want a single level. I’ve heard too many horror stories of neighbors & acquaintances injuring themselves on the stairs. I refuse to get a stair lift... a neighbor has one & it makes their house look like a convalescent home. So... in the future I’ll be looking for a single level, many years down the line.

our house is ok, it was better when i thought i would have 2 floors, but you know how it goes. but the neighborhood has turned out much better than expected.

I bought my house 12 years ago because I loved the neighborhood. About 4 years ago a beautiful outdoor mall was built less than 2 miles from me with everything a chronic shopper could ask for. My house has a couple of odd things about the floor plan but I’ve learned to work with them but overall I️ love it. My area has now become one of the more desirable areas in my city so I’m staying right where I am. Location, location, location:)

We are on our 3rd home. Each one was perfect at the time for what we needed. I liked everyone. As kids came and went so did the homes and what we needed from them.

I love my house. We have been in it for 25 years last May. We renovated our kitchen 2 years ago and redid the deck a year ago. However, I am getting to the point I hate the stairs. AND, I hate winters. If I never shovel another shovel of snow, I would be perfectly satisfied. A stair lift sounds good, but I am over the cold winters. So, in a few years, we will be looking for a double wide in Florida and in Indiana. One for the winter, one for the summer. Great place for the kids and grandkids to visit.

We have been in our house 23 years. We are the original owners but used standard plans offered by one of the approved builders and modified them somewhat. It works very well for us 95% of the time. The biggest problem is....The powder room is centrally located so on the rare occasions we have non family guests it is a little too prominent for comfort.
I love the snow, the neighbors, the location and could stay here forever but may investigate moving the washer and dryer upstairs into my husbands closet;-) so that we could live completely on the first level. I suppose someday the yard and stairs will become too much for an elderly person to care for and we will need to move. Sigh.
