Glass knobs for white shaker cabinets?

Love the look of glass knobs, am concerned that we may regret the decision one year later if knobs begin to fall off? We have heard that the knobs May fall off. We are using Amerock so we plan to call and discuss this to get their take. Any info would be appreciated!

There is no reason for any knob to fall off, but I don't think glass knobs belong on Shaker cabinets. Sort of like wearing a tiara with sweats.

I agree with Anglophilia that they won't fall off. My personal taste is not to like glass knobs in kitchens. Too bedroomy. Some people may disagree. It's just my $.02. Before you invest in the glass knobs, make sure you really like them.

Why they heck would they fall off? I might consider putting glass knobs on glass doors as a decorative look but I'm not sure I would put them on shaker doors.

    My .02 worth as well.

Why wouldn't you put them on? I'm putting glass pulls and knobs on all my shaker cabinets.

Knobs shouldn't fall off. On occasion you may have to retighten, but they will give you ample warning.

My kids' dresser that is about 80 years old...no gliders...hard to open....has had pink glass knobs for years. Not one has had to be re tightened, not one has cracked. I love the look of square glass knobs!

I love them on our glass cabinets in our mudroom/pantry!

Why are glass knobs bedroom-y? I have them on my stained shaker bathroom vanity. They are not close to falling off.

I have had the glass part of the knobs in my bathroom fall off a couple of times. A little glue solves the problem. I agree that glass knobs are not kitcheny enough.

I just did 54 glass knobs. Yikes. They better not fall off. Went with emtek.

I used ORB pulls and at first had bronze knobs on the ceiling height Shaker cabinets. I decided I wanted the knobs to be inconspicuous, less of a standout/contrast, and didn't want to mix metals. Like rebunky, I changed to glass knobs with bronze.

They were from Lee Valley Hardware I think and have remain attached.

Glass knobs should not fall off. They are made like most other hardware and tested to last decades. We've used glass knobs in a number of our projects. The look great and we've never had a complaint about their durability.

If you have the resources, we've also used knobs with Swarovski Crystals. Some are full crystal and others are metal knobs with crystal inlets. Just thought we'd share that bit of info!

Good luck with your decision! Its a tough one!

My mother installed white shaker cabinets 24 yrs ago and used glass nobs. She chose the glass nobs to compliment some of the original deco style hardware in their bungalow built in the 40s. I think they still look great. The nobs have held up just fine and still look current. Go for it if that's what you want!

Oh and you say this why? Glass knobs were the original kitchen knobs back in the 20's and 30's.

Instead of making a definitive statement as fact as if you're an expert, maybe saying instead, "In my opinion..." would have worked better so as not to scare off the OP who obviously, like me, likes glass knobs in a kitchen.

glass knobs are not kitcheny enough

Now I'm curious about what actually constitutes "kitcheny enough." Is there an official look or finish?

After more research, they shouldn't fall off. I spoke with the company and I feel better. Thanks for all of your help!

Glass knobs can go in any room, personal taste is just that, personal.

I just saw a kitchen with white shaker cabinets with glass with gold cabinets bars it 's looks so beautiful. I'm now looking for some as we are remodeling our kitchen white shaker cabinets with black shaker cabinet island.

These are mine. I’ve got bar pulls on the lower cabinets. If you look, you’ll often see antique farmhouse furniture with the original glass knobs on which today’s products are based. Not fancy at all, IMHO, but heritage style.

Another shot of my farmhouse kitchen, showing the bar pulls I used on the bottom cabinets, with Lee Valley glass knobs on top.

Buy the glass knobs that are more retro with the screw through the glass, I did!
