A more cheerful color, different lighting and crown molding. Can lights would more equally spread the lighting eliminating the need for one strong light that is not illuminating the hall equally. Also, (not in addition to can lights) a strip light as in the first picture may help or wall sconces as in the third picture.

I also agree with the runner and family collage. Possibly some wainscoting as in the third picture.

The color of the walls is a khaki color. I think the picture looks a little yellow.. What color do you recommend?!

Is the hall wall visible from another room at the end of the stairs so that it might have to coordinate with that?

Yes it's visible from the living room which is also khaki... My whole house is khaki... I couldn't decide what to do so I did every room the same color :/

Do you have the downstairs decorated the way you want it? I don't think the hall is a priority until all other decorating is complete. A rug. A large print on the wall.

Yes I do have the downstairs decorated.. With the exception if a console table.. I do need that!

Depending on the other colors in your home and your taste, these are some ideas. Each individual color, in my opinion could work with Benjamin Moore Crisp Khaki 234, but not all together. The Khaki is on the bottom of course. The colors are arranged from cool to warm. I do think a white 3/4" wainscoting would look good along with white crown and woodwork.

Wainscoting and wallpaper helped our hallway

If you have lots of family pictures displayed in other rooms a hallway can be the perfect place to bring them all together for a sort of timeline of the family. Plenty of room to add as time goes on.
