You desperately need a rug. Also bring in some kind of china storage or a buffet to soften things. The photo is about a foot too far up the wall. Always hang art and pictures with the center at eye level. Unless you're almost eight feet tall, this position is too high. I'm not big on vertical blinds, especially with your chandelier. It is too repetitive in pattern. The chests are cute, but may be better in a different room.

I think you're on track with the mirrored buffet idea. Look at the "Borghese" buffet at Z Gallerie or the more modestly priced "Reflections" collection at Home Decorators Collection (both are online). It should go on the longest wall - which looks like the wall where the photo is hung (as another poster said, way too high!). My only concern is maintaining an adequate walkway between the back of the chairs and the buffet on that side; it should be at least 30 inches to allow the chairs to move in and out. Looks like there's more room on the side where the trunks currently are?? I think sheers at the patio doors would be nice, maybe with stationary panels on either side. Have you thought about painting the room?

@Decorating for Busy People we did! I dont like the "antique" effect on the glass. Its hard to find regular mirror these days, am i right? And yes we're considering painting the room. Thank you so much!

BTW, I'm wondering if the lighting fixture can be lowered? I'm not sure that I'm that crazy about it, but I think it is better aesthetically for it to be lower so you can appreciate it.

Ok friends i need your help ASAP! Would these work well in my dining room, the buffet on the right side (empty wall/floor) and this rug under the dining table? Or wrong style/color???? Should i get a "brighter" colored rug? Its a one day sale at Horchow, i need advice PLEASE!

Hi lasmar1! I love, love, love the buffet! If it's on sale today and fits your budget, go for it! And yes, with this new picture of the room, it looks like there is plenty of room on the right side. As to the rug, though, I'm a little puzzled. The sofa area is very sleek and contemporary so this rug in an adjacent area is too traditional. But, there is something YOU like about it, or you wouldn't have chosen it! Is it the floral motif? The colors? Whatever it is, take that and look for something less traditional and more transitional. I like the coral trellis rug on your other post - the color is bold, the crosshatches pick up on the design in the buffet doors, and it's more transitional - a traditional motif done in a modern way. I also like the dot rug on the other post. You may want to try www.homedecorators.com. You can narrow your search by style, color, price, etc. I always have luck there.
