Is this table Gorgeous or Hideous?

Looking for a kitchen table, and thought this might be different but pretty. Kitchen will be white with dark grey cabinets. Harwood floors stained dark walnut. countertop to be determined. Chrome hardware and stainless hood. Does this even match??

I think it’s overdone. It’s too shiny, too hammered. You will tire of it quickly and it will look cheap.

Look instead for an authentic pewter finish, or something that looks tarnished and uneven. It should look like it came from a factory or farmhouse 75 years ago, not from crate and barrel circa last week.

hate the chairs. the table is different. with a different setting, lighting chairs,,could work. maybe one in zinc or copper

That table absolutely screams "Lottery winner!". Plus, as with any metal or stone table, it will be uncomfortably cold for bare arms.

I like the chairs--slightly Oriental, in a Design Within Reach sort of way.

Hahahahaha. Thanks guys!! I’m looking for something big for my eat in kitchen. Open to suggestions..... Style traditional/transitional with comfy chairs. Xoxo

What about something like this? It is available in a grey finish, too and there are some great chairs to use with it, too.

LOVE your question! I really like the idea of this table. I would look for one that has a top that is less shiny, there are lots out there. I like it when there’s a mix and things don’t match perfectly. You want a blend, and layering. Enjoy!

I have a big space and right now we are using 2 folding tables that are 6 feet long I wanted something cool and different but that matches my grey and white soon-to-be kitchen. I am tired Of the same old trestle legged farmhouse table. That one might be a little too cray cray Beth. Haha

Do you have a floor plan to post image of for size/shape? The chairs in the image you posted are not comfortable from my experience. I would consider host/hostess fabric chairs incorporated w/mix. Lots of interesting table options at RH--have you checked?

My kitchen isn't installed yet, but this is the area where the table will go. Excuse the mess!

I think done right it could be really nice

I'm not opposed to metal surfaces (both shiny and brushed or distressed) - in the right place. I agree with tats, though, it'll be cold on arms. I wouldn't.

Thank you all-- I was just hoping for a new style kitchen table instead of farmhouse tables that are Everywhere. I guess I'll find pretty chairs instead. Should I start a new post? I have some questions about matching table to walnut stained floors. Thanks again all!! xo

Yes, I'd start a new post. I completely understand wanting something different than what you see every day! Keep looking, you'll find something you love, and there are amazing people here who can help if you give an idea of your style and what you are, and aren't, looking for.

Thank you, guys! I just spent so long writing a new post and attaching photos, and it all got lost when I hit submit. That happens to me a lot ---- I'll try again

I would describe the table as 'different'...I like what is going on with the bottom portion with a surprising top....the chairs I would have never thought would go with the look....as for where in the world this would look perfect....it seems large for a kitchen space as displayed in a traditional dining room. As for individual needs, no judgement....though I have to say I'm not really a fan of the table.

A table longer than 10 feet is a custom job. :)

A large square or a large round table would be great too

What type of surface is concrete? Porous? rough? Don't know much about it

I vote hideous. That table is terrifying. I like the idea of the size and shape of the table. And I agree with Judy G Designs on the concrete table.

I'll look into concrete -- Is it considered rustic?

Ten feet looks awfully big for your space, And the only way to have a "stable" ten feet is get a wooden table with LEAVES......at 84 or 96 inches, or have it custom created. Or butt two 60 inch tables together.

Once World Market sells a certain style, it's not that "different" anymore.

Your pictures are helpful. I would look for rectangular or oval. With you transitional/traditional elements--stairwell/trim/crown molding/ cabinets etc, I would resist the urge to get something completely different; perhaps an interesting base in metal to help break the dark floor and repeat the floor tone for top, interesting rectangular chandelier would look great over rect table. mmm, the hammered autopsy table look. Classic.

I really like your original idea for the table. Good instincts..... I do prefer a less shiny metal, but other than that, I love it. It picks up on the grays your using. Also like the wood finish of the table. The addition of the metal topped table will be killer! Love the mix! Look at kitchen designs in Trad Home, Elle Decor, and AD. They’re the best of the best! Notice all the finishes used.... it will help you to hone your ideas and build confidence. ❤️

There are 2 sides to it:

    1. The table is interesting and has it's beauty.

    2. You might get tired of it very soon.

I don't see getting tired of a table like that if you really like it and are bold enough to use it. That table can be dressed up or dressed down to pretty much match everything. I can see both farm house and contemporary seating and dishes with that table. Plus color, I can see a lot of colorful things or the simple with that table. Put it in a deep dark blue room or a modern gray one. Originally I thought it was an ok table but the more I look at it, the more I like it.

Not a designer, but I like the table. I would vote for one with a less shiny top. I imagine that it will also be really practical and way to wipe down. I would wait until the cabinets are installed and then decide in the table and chairs, though.
