Portuguese fig originally from the Island of Madeira, Portugal . When ripe, the fruit is green with a blush of yellow and it pulp is strawberry red in color. It produces a breba crop, which has a closed eye, while the main crop is slightly open.this fig holds up well to rain. I don’t know just how rare it is ,but it is not widely distributed amount fig enthusiasts. It was originally introduced thru a Maryland fig collector.
