Here is one of my Showy Milkweeds breaking dormancy (they arrived dormant about two weeks ago). I already see some flower buds. The rest of the Showy and Common are also poking out of the ground/pots.

Just received these mail order. They are suppose to be Redring. What do you think? The leaves are thick and leathery and a little fuzzy.

That is a beautiful specimen. Is that one plant? What conditions is that plant kept in?

The plants did come from Florida. I am a little worried about overwintering. Any suggestions or advice? For this season, I'm going to coddle them by burying their pots close to the foundation on the North side of the house. Dahlias and eucomis have overwintered there in the past. No direct sun causing freezing and thawing, a little overhang and the ground doesn't freeze solid.

Yes, 1 plant. All my plants grow on dry, wooded hillsides. This one gets about 3 hours of midday sun. Yours will probably be OK in a well drained spot, with lots of mulch.

Thank you, I think I can provide those conditions. My son is working on an Eagle project, building a bee yard for the community garden. It is in a wooded, open area. Hopefully, if I do well with these plants, I will be able to propagate them and introduce them around the bee yard while trying to remove all the mugwort, japanese stiltgrass and mile a minute vine.
