Be careful with the whites. As mentioned above, so are very porous and will stain easily.

It is natural iron in the stone and when it is exposed to water, even water vapor in the air, it rusts and turns orange.

Fred Hueston, a forensic stone doctor, wrote an article about how, during construction, a cheap homeowner turned off his air conditioning after his marble floor was laid. The iron in the marble rusted and destroyed the floor.

All the light colored natural stones are more prone to staining. Yesterday a guy told me about how his wife is still mad at him for getting an orange paper wet on their light granite which stained it. A poultice lightened it, but it's still there and she's still mad. Fortunately, after it lightened, it looked pretty natural.

Yes, but there's an exception. The granites that are the family of White Delicatus, Alaska White, Lennon, Bianco Antico, White Springs, Cold Springs, and a few other names that have that similar look. It is a different look than what's pictured in the OP, but they are white. They have chunks of gray, taupe and black. They are easy-care and durable. This granite family has mica of varying amounts which makes them even more beautiful, but you need to watch for slabs with mica fissures - a good fabricator will spot these.
