Ingrida, they're much smaller than tulips, so even tip-toeing through them you'd squash too many :(

Harvey, they grow naturally near my creek. Leaf/tree debris builds up after flooding and the orchids love to grow in this. So they take periods of inundation, even for several days continuously. I placed some in a large pot on that spot (in the photo). The orchids grew down through the bottom of the pot and spread into the mulch. So they actually took the initiative and planted themselves there. I like plants that take the initiative like that, although not the weeds that do.

Jane, they're in the garden, but where they don't get watered by the automatic irrigation during the dry season.
