I would never hang panels that a toddler could one day use to climb on/pull up on/pull the rod down. Strings on shades are also a no no...Roller shades with a valance aren't fashionable but they are safest.

I'd be more concerned with the bumper pads than the curtains, altho you can hang short curtains in a baby's room. Probably best. I would put two rods, rather than one long one. Too much space between the windows.

There's lots of cordless shades available now, too.

I’d hang a cute valance and room darkening cordless blinds. Agree with arcy about toddlers pulling on drapes. There are cordless blinds that aren’t roller shades.

When my grandson, 20 months old, visits, he loves to play peek-a-boo with the curtains in my sunroom! So -- yes, toddlers love curtains.
