boring Bathroom ...

Hi, We recently renovated our apt and my bathroom looks kind of boring. Please help me pick some accesories that will make this bathroom pop. I thought gray tiles will make this bathroom very dark that’s why I picked here color walls and white vanity which I can’t stand now. I’ll be very glad for any ideas !!

Are these unfiltered pictures of your bathroom?? I only ask because they literally look like black and white photos....Is your vanity white or light grey? Looks light grey on screen.

Your floor's beautiful and the rest is nice enough, but, like you
say, kinda boring. The room would be a great candidate for some bold
    wallpaper, I think.

and I would wallpaper over the door like this:

Yes this are unfiltered pictures, vanity is white and walls are white too. I like an idea of wallpaper. I was also considering to paint walls a different color.

Rather than paint or wallpaper, you could get a bold, scenic shower curtain, a coordinating picture over the towel bar, and perhaps a picture/mural/decal for the wall behind the door for you to look at while you "contemplate" while seated.

This is a nice blank slate and be thankful for that. Wall paper is one answer a new shower curtain or better yet a glass shower screen to make the space feel bigger some awesome colored towels a piece of art facing the toilet the has the colors for the towels . The nice thing is when you get tired of the art change it , change the towels all new bathroom.

Pick a color you like (such as the pink) and get a shower curtain with that color.

It's not boring. It is SERENE!

I would get a shower curtain with a bold print in shades of grey, and hang black and white prints.

I agree - clean and serene! However, I understand completely. The same thing happened when I redid our guest bathroom. Wallpaper would make a huge difference. If you don't want to go that far - look for a spiffy shower curtain and an interesting piece of art for the wall across from sink and vanity.

That it is a very nice bathroom. You just need color. A pretty shower curtain with color towels that match. Some art. In the picture looking back at the door the white walls IMO are very stark, painting the walls a soft color would be nice.

you can do a lot-or you can do a little

(it's not boring, you're just still working on it. it's a process)

    I'll start with little..

    towels that you like

    (everything suggested-just an example)

trinket dish for little soap..or for trinkets:)

(sorry..obviously into fairy tales too much today. lol)

and something decorative and interesting, art or wall decor piece, that you won't worry too much if it falls or gets water on it or something

    again, just as an idea..

    https://us.amara.com/shop/brand/ibride/serving-trays?amss=5tm&pdg=kwd-32497968621%3Acmp-379440497%3Aadg-23224353497%3Acrv-234227543957%3Apos-1t1%3Adev-c&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-NWSv-XX1wIVRmx-Ch3zYwQSEAAYASAAEgLhTfD_BwE

I know they're expensive. but a) if you get bored you can use them as tray. lol and b) nevermind my particular examples-any art you love-as long as it's not family heirloom and you're not afraid for it being in the bathroom- that's mostly what will keep "boring" bathrooms from being anything but boring.

It's utalitarian space..but indulge yourself and get small/bigger things that will make you smile or be inspired

bigger things..might be a bit more interesting shower curtain..containers..knowing myself I'd stick a plant somewhere..)) ..additional shelf? there are some sharp looking ones..there are cool and unique vintage ones..maybe wallpaper one wall but use colors already there-you have this prominent flooring, you don't want surfaces to fight

but I honestly believe you can start with little..and then see. Maybe will turn out to be just what you want.

it's a nice bathroom. If you hate vanity-nothing easier-you find two cool knobs. Look at Anthropologie ones(they have huge sale today btw..30% off sitewide including sale..World Market..Etsy of course!)

We ran out of money remodeling the whole house and only item left was hallway closet in a non standard very narrow space. We couldn't do custom at this point. We went with the cheapest stuff I usually dislike (the cabinets place cut it for us so it fits). I went on Etsy and found amazing vintage handles..I needed many though, I needed ten. I payed maybe 3 dollars per every hangle? Its Home Depot price for a great quality beautiful handle. They all same style but slightly different. I wanted it like that intentionally. I can't tell you how much I love that stupid closet right now. It's like it got face of its own

and you need only two knobs.

My bathroom is sort of like yours except for taupe/white walls. At Christmas I use red towels and a red rug in front of the sink. Put a red candle with tinsel around it on the sink and it looks very Christmasy. The rest of the year I use maroon accessories and taupe rugs. I think you could do those things without painting or wallpapering.

I like your bathroom a lot, especially the floor. The four things I would suggest are as follows:

    1. A graphic and interesting shower curtain as suggested above. You can change them out by season.
    2. A new light fixture over the vanity. Something to complement the room. I like Tech Lighting's Span but there are so many options to use.
    3. I would change the shower curtain hanging mechanism. I would move the rod above the line of the lines or drop it from the ceiling if possible. Something like this using a Curtain track in the ceiling. I think the reflection of the shower rod in the medicine cabinet reflects a little more gray than necessary. Something like this from Trax.
    4. A piece of punchy art above the toilet and on the wall opposite the medicine cabinet.

The medicine cabinet appears to be too big for the space and mounted too high. I wonder if you can drop it down a little bit? I know you said this is a new remodel but it may help to lower the medicine cabinet and change the light fixture.

    Good luck!

That curtain track in the ceiling is really cool.

    as for the curtains..

    sharp urban?

    https://www.finnstyle.com/hetkia-shower-curtain.html

    a bit gloomy florals?

    https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/marina-floral-shower-curtain?category=shower-curtains&color=095&quantity=1&size=72X72&type=REGULAR

    tons of possibilities

but I must say that whatever homepro posted is indefinitely cool. Will be more hassle and money...but way cool. I love how it's plain white but the way it's hung adds so much interest and opens the space

A bold shower curtain will make this room feel even smaller. I would use wallpaper or bright colored towels. You have pattern on your floor - you need to keep this simple.

like the comments by Patricia and Aprilneverends but didn't read all. I like your tile. Wonder how it would look to paint your vanity and change the light fixture. I guess you need your cabinet over the sink for storage.

I would go with a very calm shower curtain, I have this one and it's lovely. Enlarge the pic and you'll see the petals are sewn on individually only at the top and sides so they look like they're tumbling down. We love the look and it adds a nice soft texture to the room. To the mix add some yummy towels and beautiful runner rug, maybe a fur look. MS shower curtain

Back in the late 40s or early 50s, my aunt Hazel and her husband had a house built. The downstairs bath had glossy black tile on the floor, in the tub surround, and, if I remember correctly, halfway up the wall like wainscoting. As I was growing up, that bathroom had multiple personalities LOL, expressed entirely by the use of accessories. Over the years, the towels, shower curtain, window curtain, decorative soaps, silk flowers, and rugs were at various times lemon yellow, pink, aqua (it was the 50s after all!), avocado green ( must have been the sixties by then)... Can't remember if there were others. And every personality was really really attractive. Have fun!

Could you but a bit of white trim around the room and paint the top half black? You could even do a tone on tone stencil over it.

The inspiration picture has tile on the bottom but you could just keep your same color. You could also keep the white shower curtain. The dark charcoal/black paint will be all the drama you will need.

Like this but more of a very dark almost black charcoal.

Or, you could do a white shower curtain with a tiny yellow border at top and bottom.

    And, golden towels

Can you continue the wall tile to the corner or is the wall just not finished? Don't re-add the small towel hook. I would remove the towel rack (too small) and toilet holder (too close to the door) and add a floor toilet holder instead in the corner. Then paint your vanity a nice grey and across from the toilet you could add a longer towel rack for larger towels with some prints above (don't think you have tile there?) or if you do, add a rustic ladder and Turkish towels are really nice. I would also suggest looking for a longer white/grey bordered shower curtain and adding some nice hooks. I don't think you need to add vibrant colors, just accessorize with warm and complimentary items.

I actually really like it. It feels clean and crisp. Since everything is in a neutral color you can have almost any other color come in and work. I would get a nice shower curtain and towels that match in a non-neutral color.

Thank you so much for all great advice !! :) I really love them ! I think I’ll paint wall a bit light gray color and add some nice towels . I really love an idea of wallpaper and definitely will try to find nice one for a big white wall side. I love curtain ceiling track already looking for one to order !! Unfortunately I can not hang medicine cabinet lower. I’m not sure if the tech light gives a lot of light, does it ? Light helps with make up :)

Thank you so much for all

the advice ! Really appreciate them !!

P.S can you please recommend me some art I should hang if I won’t go with a wallpaper ?

homepro, I meant these long threads holding the curtain...they're might be easily made, and it might be easy to reinstall rods/tracks, but as someone less able in all things handy, I have this mode of thinking "so how I'll get from this to that". You know Winnie the Pooh? that's the point when my inner Piglet manifests himself:)

But I'm in love with that look.

I agree by the way with some previous posters that very bold shower curtain(and I'm usually crazy about them as some might remember), in this case, might be less beneficial for the space. I looked at white plus texture but they somehow seemed a bit wrong, at least the ones I saw. They also were expensive as I'm also good at posting expensive stuff:)

ah, and Maureen, Turkish towels ARE really nice...I have only one by now but am very impressed.

sylwia, art-should be something you like:) By the way. if you decide to go with wallpaper it doesn't mean you can't hang art too

it's hard to suggest art without knowing the person and what he loves, but many sources irl and online..tell us if you need links..my cheapest finds were from vintage and thrift stores, garage sales, eBay and Etsy, also arts and crafts local festivals. You can even use postcards you really like ..I made a gallery wall of sorts once with clippings from especially beautiful winter edition of some magazine..and it was for the bathroom..I used similar slightly different frames in different sizes.

or you might have something in your home already that you love.

I really love ceramics so I use them on walls too. Which reminded me. There are very pretty ceramics in white...soft white..would look amazing if you paint walls darker..now I just need to remember where I saw them. I think Etsy. I'll post them if I find them, you'll tell me if you like them

no..she doesn't have them anymore as far as I can judge

found something else though..if you're into quirky plates with forests and houses..:)

found other white wall sculptures..I'd be wary to break them, in a small space, and not that cheap ..but sone are really cool so I'll post them anyway :

    https://www.etsy.com/shop/DillyPad/items

if you want to add a natural element, to warm up your bathroom..

even an unusual wall light can easily become art..

all found on Etsy..amount of original paintings, drawings, photographs and prints is huge there. eBay, you can get original works of emerging artists next to nothing. Or find something vintage. By the way Chairish, com has plenty of vintage art too. Once you know where to look you'll find something..art is easy to fall in love with. But it's very personal of course..what will talk to you.

I would suggest an interesting graphic piece that grabs your eye and is quite large for impact. Add a towel bar underneath and use towels that compliment. I would skip wallpaper - let the floor be the focal point.

    The feather print on Pinterest references this company and you can order the size you want. It looks like a European company so not sure about delivery, etc. https://desenio.de/de/artiklar/poster/index.html#{}

Also attaching the link to Pinterst re: feathers and maybe you will see something that appeals to you and is local - Etsy has a few as an fyi.
