I believe the wood table would be best. But your round rusty table brought back memories....we had a white painted set like that and we used it in the dining room .. with a glass top. I remember the chairs had orange padded seats....looked so cute in our house.

I have always loved gate leg tables- do you think it's too much wood?

This is a newer piece - easier to tuck chairs in & less crevices to dust?!?

Im adding more cabinetry to the island & removing 3 barstools. I'm crazy!! But, we never go to the table & eat like proper folks should do!! Even when we have friends over- we plop down at that island. I am making us have better habits by removing seats!!! DH & I can eat at table when it's just the 2 of us.

If you are going to eat meals there, comfort and practicality matter. A gateleg table for two people is fine for dinner once a year, perfectly awful every day because the table legs are awkward. Try a small pedestal table with two well-cushioned dining chairs.

I like the small table with the iron pedestal better than the gate leg.

I own a table like the gateleg and it is very hard for two sit at it and dine. The rusty one with a glass top; def. It also takes up less visual space. You can keep the rust from getting all over things by using butchers' wax on it.

FOr upholstered dining chairs, Id look at slipcovered ones from Ballard. I have had some of those for 20+ years and pressed them into service a dozen ways.

Hi! I think the gateleg table,though pretty, would be hard to sit comfortably at. I like the last table you posted with the wood and iron. I like the iron table but it looks big. Will it fit there without being crowded?

I might get the gate leg & use it as an entry table!! I have a large foyer area & use it for overflow dining. It could be pulled out & extended.

Mtn, I'm intrigued by the rusty table as well. I could always use it outside, if it doesn't work. And yes-- I got bumped out with the change over-so, it logged me in to another user name I had? Still don't have a proper piece of wood for mantle!!! And I have been considering Ballard, so nice to know you've gotten good use of them!

Shee (hi!) I'm going to tape it off. I think having more upright chairs- not as deep- will help. Ottoman is 36" & pedestal table is 30".
