How about colorful accent towels in the cubbies? Or baskets for storage? Replace the brown wall hanging with some art that speaks to you (with color). For some reason the curtain looks like it is swagged to the 'wrong' side (to me).

I agree with Danita about the curtain, but I'd keep the brown circular pieces on the wall, I like them.

From a functional standpoint, I would find it bothersome to wind up touching the curtain nearly every time I flushed the toilet. - rf

Roman shade on the window instead of the curtain. Towels or shade with a little more of the teal color. Looks very nice!

I would take away one of the brown things on the wall and get a shorter curtain or blinds on the window. Too bulky for that space.

I like the curtain. It adds interest to the space. I say leave it!

I have to agree with @JAN MOYER about the layout; to say that this is a 'tight fit' would be a massive understatement. I think it would be better to forgo a vanity and just have a small, wall mounted sink, however, you mentioned a limited budget so it is what it is. I think you should remove the curtain. If your window is frosted, as was mentioned by Jan Moyer, I would leave it uncovered, otherwise I would go with something like a simple roman shade. I like the discs you have on your wall, but I think they are too big and the wrong colour, and they kinda overwhelm the space. In a room this small and crowded, I think you should keep your decor to a minimum. A small picture for your wall, a colourful, attractive towel, and you're done.

I would add colorful towels rolled up in the vanity cubbies. Change the window treatment to a roman shade ( I would do a patterned fabric then pull a color for the rolled towels in cubbies). Looks like you have some teal and blue going on already. When budget allows I would change the mirror. It's very bulky to me (frame size).

Save your money and effort. It needs demolishing and some adjacent space annexing to make it legal. Othereise it’s just something that will get called out at a home inspection that will need to be demolished or fixed.

Maybe a smaller pedestal sink or a smaller, more shallow vanity would help. Remove one curtain and both discs; they don't really go at all.

A wall hung sink still ain’t gonna give 21” of clearance in front of it and 15” from the drain to the wall. Not unless someone pays to move pipes and walls.

I would remove the disks too, replace it with something else. You could make your own picture frames, buy the frames in a colour you like and put in your own art work--so many beautiful DIY projects online.

I preferably prefer no curtain too in the bathroom but the one you have now and considering you are on a tight budget it looks fine.

Other option is to cover window with stain like glass tiles, which are also removeable if you ever want to remove them.

Use baskets or some other containers in the cubbies closest to the toilet, and not just rolled up, unprotected towels. There's going to be splash back, etc when the toilet is used ...

Maybe put some succulents on the window sill- that always adds a nice touch - and if you want to go with the blue color palate, buy pots that match.

If you keep the curtain, opt to have it end at the sill (otherwise it doesn’t seem sanitary). Like others tho, the small bathroom might do fine without anything at the window. I agree that the medallions should go. They are too heavy for the small space and you would be better served with adding more color. The space is actually too neutral to feel pleasant.

This is a "fast" powder room. You can sit, fix your hair, and wash your hands all at once. No need to stand at the sink! Before I would leave the window uncovered, I would have a male friend stand in front of the toilet at night with the light on....you go outside and see what a passer-by might see, and then you will know for sure if you need to have a privacy curtain.
The current curtain IS tied back in the wrong direction. Pull it toward the mirror wall or replace it.

Thank you. see there is not much I can do about the layout of the bathroom (legal or not) I can only play around with the décor to create a better feeling in this room. I take to medallions off and try to find something else. Maybe try to shorten the curtain myself. Should I leave the wall opposite the mirror as is?

Felizlady.....I have tried just that. I went outside while my daughter was using the powder room and with the light on you basically see everything. I tie the curtain to the other side and that some more pic to put up.

If it were my bathroom, I,d put a white blind up, take the towel bar off that wall n just put a round hand one next to the sink because the other one takes up space where u can’t afford to. I think a small colorful piece for the wall there would give the room a nice uplift but I do like the round medallions there.

And I love that sink area! yeah the room is small but how long r u in it anyway. Lol. (u work with what u have since not everyone has the luxury of space in their homes)

Tight quarters, but sometimes we have to do the best with what we have. On a limited budget, get rid of the curtain and replace it with roman shade, with at least two colors in it. Remove the medallions (they look like they belong outside) and replace with a painting that has colors that compliment the roman shade. After that, purchase some towels, two or three solid colors, making sure there are more one color and just a sprinkle of the other color(s). I'm still purchasing the small things for a bathroom that I had remodeled a couple months ago. I'm an artist, so the first two things that I purchased were a vanity (grey) and a painting. Wall color, shower curtain, towels, etc, were based off of those two things. Btw_I just purchased a white (light filtering) roman shade that I absolutely love from J.C.Penney, for less than $40. Good Luck and post some after pics.

Can you even open the door to the vanity? Looks like it would hit the toilet.
