Babies emerging with cupped leaves

I don't know what to make of this leaf's babies coming up with cupped leaves. Have been wondering just where the cause of this issue stems from...

Okay, bad attempt at having some pun... :-) Moving on...

The plant is Music Maker, which is described as a Large plant. The mama leaf keeps growing even though the tip was cut off. Mama stem and leaf have grown above the container's edge and outgrew the lid that had been covering it. The curled leaves are just a bit smaller than a dime, though uncurled they would be larger.

The little semi mini leaf babies next to it appears to be growing okay. Perhaps there's something wrong with the way I prepped the leaf?

Lots of mine tend to do this too. I'm not sure what causes it, but they usually produce normal leaves once they're older and in their own pot.

From my little experience with growing from leaves, this happens A LOT of the time. Its kind of like a real babies. They are all cute and chubby, and dont look like the parents, (be real, they dont). BUT as they grow, they change and start to look like the parents,...we hope:)

Its just 'baby fat'....as I recall, mine would flatten out, get the red backs on them, if the parents had them, or get scalloped leaves, whatever the parent looked like.

I am just hoping my new leaves I JUST started, even put out roots, so i can plant them and get babies from them! Looks like you have a great crop of babies, and know what your doing. That variegated plant I see is pretty, Who is that? Are the other variegated leaves the same variety?

The variegated plants are Cajun Ooh La La started from leaves.

Baby fat...got a chuckle of that PBL lol.
