Anyone shop at Leafari?

In my searches this site came up - Leafari. They look to have some interesting bulbs - I loved the look of Gervase and Purple Rain specifically.

I have browsed quite a few pages of this forum and haven't seen this site mentioned - has anyone used them and are they reliable?

Actually, I had never heard of them. They must be a new company they only had 4 reviews on Dave's Watch Dog and they were all positive. Give them a try, they've got some nice selections.

Gervase is one that everyone needs in their collection, an outstand variety, I've always admired Purple Rain but never tried one.

I bought a couple of bulbs - will report back here once the shipment arrives....

Just wanted to let you know that the lefarai order arrived - I ordered on Tuesday and it arrived by Friday! By far they had the quickest shipping and the best bulbs I have gotten so far between Russell’s nursery , easy to grow bulbs and leafari!

i got gervase, purple rain and Aphrodite! Will keep this post updated with pics once something emerges (fingers crossed)

Great!! And if you got what you ordered, everything will be perfect, good to know, we'll be waiting for pictures!

I know somebody who knows the owners of this new company. These
two used to be key players at Easy to Grow Bulbs but left and this is their new
    venture.

Having fun exploring the Leafari website; looking at their amaryllis
for now - especially Purple Rain - and dahlias for the spring. Nice selection.

    Is it spring yet!?

Thanks for the info Cara! They certainly sent me very good bulbs! Everything is growing really really slow for me :-)

Oh my - I made the mistake of going over to their site again today and now I am tempted to buy a whole bunch more. Need to tell myself I don't need to buy all the varieties available in one year! Especially since I haven't proven yet that I can keep them alive past one bloom season!

Oh My....you've been bitten and this is only the beginning :-))))))

And really JL, when was gardening about "need"? Hahaha. Smitten might be a more appropriate term. :>)

I like that word cara - smitten is definitely correct!

Bought some from Leafari last week and they shipped next day and arrived promptly. Very impressed with the bulb size, considering the price was at a good discount compared to Easytogrowbulbs. Will be buying another batch before this season ends.

I bought some which arrived very promptly. They're large and look good. Nice to deal with.

I'd be curious to see how your bulbs are blooming......I am realizing that although the bulbs I got from lefari are very healthy and still looking great - they have not grown anything. No scapes, no leaves. I think this might just be a function of how cold my house is this winter and the fact that I got them quite late in the season. I expect they will bloom this spring - but was just curious on how other people's bulbs from there have fared!

    Hi Joy,

I think you hit the nail right on the head. Mine are doing the same exact thing and I've them for a few seasons. Like you, I like to keep the house a little cooler. That way the blooms and other plants grow a little better and don't flop over like they would in a much warmer house.

Hi Fred and Joy, this is interesting. My flat is quite cool too and I usually bring the new bulbs to the warmest room after planting. Some of them I even have to put on a heating pad to start them. But all my older bulbs stay in mostly unheated rooms where temperature is around 15°C (59°F) or less. We're still in winter and temperatures didn't rise yet but scapes and leaves are growing everywhere. This started a month ago and I wonder if they just want to flower after a certain cool period or if this is because the amount of light they get starts to rise at this time.

Any ideas? I know that some plants depend on daylength but I've never heard anything like that from Hippeastrum.

hi Anja - it might be dependent on the bulb too - I never thought of that. I have three bulbs that are pretty much doing nothing above the surface - hopefully they are still growing roots under ground! All my bulbs are new so I don't know if they can quite compare to yours and Fred's bulbs! I will make a note of the varieties that are doing this though, and post back here tomorrow.....

Same here, none of my bulbs had any growth upon arrival, unlike other sources. After 2 weeks, half are now starting to show signs of leaves at around 72 degrees room temperature.

hi Cara - I am drooling over dahlias and begonias as well. Especially the really expensive ones from WFF. I guess I am their target audience lol.

You know, I've been in the WFF greenhouse where they grow the Blackmore & Lagdon begonias and while they're lovey, they aren't worth $69 per bulb + $23 to ship. Crazy - $92 for a single begonia bulb. That's nuts.

    Hi Anja,

I have a lot of plants that respond to the lengthening daylight so I wouldn't be at all surprised if hippies do the same thing. I think they're genetically programmed to do so, despite what we want them to do :-)))

Cara - thanks! Those are the exact ones that are tempting me - the pics are beyond gorgeous. For now I will just admire them online and dream of a day when I can afford to buy one!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I ordered/ 28 bulbs from this company, I only had a issue with 3, I called the company and spoke with a very nice woman named Jill she was more than happy to correct the issue. All of the bulbs are in the ground and doing very well 75 percent already have buds on them! I'm so excited to see those blooms, I love amaryllis they all have their own beauty. 1 person said something about being smitten that is the same thing Jill said when I told her that I have about 130 amaryllis in my yard. LEAFARI has a wonderful customer service give them a try you won't be sorry.

I was looking for a specific hosta and needed 4 of them for my project. When I ordered online I got a note that they didn't have them even though their page said they did. I called the company and they bent over backward to get someone to the ”house” to confirm their inventory. They had exactly what I needed, shipped it right away and followed up on my satisfaction. I DEFINITELY recommend them and look forward to getting more goodies for my new garden!

Leafari did not make it through the current Covid-19 business climate. Their website is down and their Etsy page is down as well. Found this statement from the founder:

"Leafari is among the little companies that will not be back next season."
