My boyfriend and I have decided to repurpose our den/tv room, and therefore, have furniture we no longer need. However, one piece is a large wall unit that I would love to repurpose as a wine/liquor bar & possibly additional storage.

I’ve seen several examples of entertainment centers being repurposed as bars, but nothing this large. We have a large wall in our dining room, in which I think this would fit well. My dilemma is that my boyfriend is resistant. He likes the idea of having a bar; but doesn’t think this piece would work. For one, he doesn’t like the exposed shelving- at least in a wine bar. I suggested putting doors on; he’s not interested in being crafty - unless it involves a motor and a loud muffler.

I think part of the problem is that it’s hard for him to envision this unit as a bar. I was thinking a small fridge would fill about 1/2 +/- the width of the large open space. I’m open to any and all suggestions.
