Coffee Table & Lamp suggestions please

As a part of the master suite which adjoins my 4 year old bedroom, we have a family den where we hang out to catch a show or read before going to bed. Its has 4 big windows & is well lit at all times. Cream carpet & light yellow walls. It also has a fire place with the TV mounted on top of it.

My intention for this room is to be cozy, warm & yet stylish, crisp & not fussy.

I am contemplating buying this [Mercer Gray Velvet Sofa and Chair[(https://www.houzz.com/products/mercer-gray-velvet-sofa-prvw-vr~62771643?lid=47317605). And soften it with a range of cream to yellow pillows & throws. I fear the ottoman that's paired with the Mercer Collection maybe a bit of too much.

Could you please suggest a suitable coffee table, side table & a lamp to go with it. Most google images pair glass topped coffee tables which I hesitate because of my rambunctious little one. I also wonder if glass will take away from the warmth.

Would also welcome any other suggestion you may have besides the tables & lamp.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Cheers!

"I am one of those who is afraid of colours. But I was having a manic mad moment there with that thought."

For the sofa, my objection is not at all about the color(s) : ) -- it's about the shape and style.

I love curtains, but you have lots of lovely windows which are all very close together, and close to the walls. I'd consider Roman shades, or faux Romans.

I am going to ask you to think about how you use this space, and if you really want deep tufting on the seat, and arms of your sofa in your family room. With a 4 year old, you will be constantly fishing things out of the tufting - and having challenges cleaning up the velvet if anything damp or gooey gets on it.

Can you post pictures of the space - as it is currently? It's always helpful to get a feel for the room if we can see it.

Thank you Michelle. Sure will add some photos. It is just an empty room at the moment.

Food is not allowed into this room. :-) This is not the living room. This room is at the same level as the bedrooms. Purely just to relax, catch up, read, catch a show etc. Also no toys are allowed at that level except his stuffed toys & books. So I am not terribly worried about mess & such. But it is a valid point. Should give that some thought.

I ideally would prefer a couple of oversized lounge chaise & a comfy rocking chair that can go with it. But I could not finding anything I like within my budget.

That's a lovely room.

I'm going to take a big breath before saying this, but that sofa to me does not convey "cozy, warm & yet stylish, crisp & not fussy", especially warm, crisp, and not fussy. I find it conveys the exact opposite. I think the recently popular slope arm style of sofa (I've seen them at Restoration Home, Jayson Home, Ikea) would work well in this room.

I agree with you about a wood vs. glass coffee table, both for warmth and practicality. Or an upholstered ottoman, and not necessarily matching the sofa.
