Lighting Design Dilemma

Track Lighting Placement Question

Hello. I'd like to install track lighting over a coffee bar. The depth of the countertop is 27" from the wall. There is a prior light fixture hole in the ceiling that is 38" from the wall. Ideally, I could use this rather than patch it up and make a new location. Would this be close enough to proper placement or should I move it a few inches closer to the edge of the countertop?

If you stand at the counter, the light will be behind you, so it won't work for task lighting of that space, although it might be fine for ambient light. Ideally task lighting is more like 18" from the wall.

You might be able to make it work with a curved or spiral track fixture, such that one or more heads are closer to the wall while the others point out into the space.
