back plate

I purchased a different light that hangs down from the plate, it didn't cover up where the previous light was on the wall showing an area above that did't have bricks. Is the electric connection at the bottom of the light where the top would cover this hole. I hope you understand what I am asking.

    Hello blaeks, The blackplate is 4" W x 6.25" H. From the connection point to the top of the fixture it is 4.5" H and from the connection point to the bottom of the fixture it is 4.5" as well. Thank you!
