Well, I should cut and paste my comment, because I type it a few times a day…accent walls/feature walls…what are you featuring? A basement wall? Paint the walls the same and hang a fun piece of art.

I love the color you have chosen…it is not too dark because every time you are in the room the lights are on and the room will be bright and cheery. Any lighter color would look wimpy.

Maybe “feature wall” is the wrong word. I saw some cool geometric wall paint ideas and figured a gym would be a place to try out something fun like that. So not really featuring anything, just playing around with paint.

I think your choice is too dark. A common mistake. The rule of thumb is to pick a color and actually buy the next lighter value. I like the third color, counting, R to L.

The problem is, if I go up a shade in Colorado Gray I think it really loses the color tone that I like and just looks kind of baby blue. My eye is naturally drawn there, I think because there is some contrast with the carpet and wood that I like. The third color in on the wall swatches is (Soft Chinchilla) and it's actually the same level as Colorado Gray but maybe a little less green. It is my 2nd choice.

Will you do the painting or hire someone?

In my experience paint always looks darker on the wall than you expect, so if you think the small swatch you painted is too dark I would go one shade lighter. Beautiful colors!

So what did you do because I love Colorado Gray too. It looks bluish teal in my small room as well.
