There are multiple layers to the bulb so I'm not certain all is lost. My sister planted tulips last year in zone 8 and didn't get a sufficient freeze. That would be more my concern with your zone unless they sell them prechilled?

Right now I would trade you tulips for warm weather- it will be 5F with the wind chill tomorrow morning. At least the bulbs will be happy- right?

Irisgal, I have hope that your bulbs will come up :) I’ve planted some really messed up looking bulbs that looked dead and they tend to be pretty resilient. I would also worry that they just get a proper chill :)
