Last winter (my first with my variegated), I got a few that size and one a bit larger but they all eventually dropped. My tree was from FW and was a "premium" (3-year old) then. At the time, I wasn't sure if it was due to immaturity of the tree (probably) or the air may have been too dry around it as I discovered spider mites on the nearby thornless key lime at the time (I have central air and it was near a ceiling vent which is now covered this year and a humidifier is in the middle of the bunch of trees) -or- the fact that many say the variegated are stingy on production in general.

The larger of my fruit last year began to show the stripes before it dropped and looked like those in your 2nd pic.

This year I will see what happens. Mine had one little flower that dropped off so far since I brought them all in last month but no other flowers that I have seen. The "younger" ("choice" 2-year olds last year, now 3 year olds) Eureka and Thornless key lime are both blooming as is my Tango mandarin.

Ah, so don't get my hopes up?

I would think they look good and not ready to fall off yet. I keep my fingers crossed that they will get bigger :)

Jenny, it's funny but after years of no blooms, even though I stopped feeding my plants in September, they are continuing to bloom! In fact I was going to post a new question to the forum asking if blooms meant I should keep up with the feeding! It has dropped below 30 for the last couple of nights, but that is really unusual. Days are still pleasant, sunny and in the low 60s.

To feed or not to feed is the next question!

I have many that look like this, but they often fall off. I don't consider the fruit set until it is nearly the size of a golf ball.

The purple tones are indeed a feature of this variegated lemon.
