I'm not one to suggest accent walls but see if she's open to another color behind the headboard because I worry it will blend in too much with gray paint.

Gray is a little drap but honestly, it's great because if she gets sick of it in a few years you can just swap out the bedding for something else and it should go with everything else in the room still.

The gray isn't drab in itself, but you want the wall color to differ enough that everything doesn't disappear into a sea of putty. Usually it's enough to go several shades lighter (as with the grayish white) or several shades darker (as with a charcoal, say). Or you could do a grayish white with a hint of purple, etc. For sure, matching grays is a bit of an art, and you'll need to get samples of lots of colors and try them in the same room as the carpet and bed. I know she does want to have black accents in her room. And i am suggesting her to go a little darker gray to bring out some color in the room.
