I'd paint the porch columns at the bottom white. Blue shutters and door look good on red brick. The short sash on the upper left window looks like a stained glass but I can't quite tell from the picture. If not, I'd put a period stained glass window there.
The parapet over the back door doesn't look high enough or strong enough for safety. I'd have something built there that ties in nicely to the front porch, not copying the lower columns but the shape of the balusters.
The window on the side next to the driveway needs a window box with lobelia in it or some other blue flower that grows in your zone.
Also the back porch needs balusters on one side same as the parapet above.

Dgardner--building upon EagleDZ's suggestions, how about, if allowed, building a set of steps with a handrail facing the front door? That would create a sense of entry that the house lacks presently. I suggest centering the steps between the two columns. You could add shutters to the entry door and the window adjacent, too. Perhaps a wall mounted espalier could be placed to the sides and the top of the side window and be covered with roses or other climbing plants--given the mass of the wall above the window without any openings. This is a classic home, and it has many great aspects to build upon. Best wishes in your remodeling endeavors.
