... one that will grow in the Tampa, Florida area. I had a raised planter with a Muhly in it. No irrigation so the grass died after I became neglectful about watering this summer. I plan on being that way for the foreseeable future and was thinking a bromeliad might tolerate my neglect. I know the common ones but was thinking someone might have a great recommendation for something worth hunting down. Would like it to form a large sprawling colony in a raised planter that has approximately 20" cube of soil. The farther it can project out from the planter, the better. I can add some water, but the less it counts on me, I'm all for it. Maybe in a year, I'll add drip if it's not working out. Would like something with outstanding looks, sun tolerance, freaky cool bloom (if possible) and mainly, tolerant of neglect.

Any suggestions? (If hard to find and you know a source, please mention it. Thanks.) I do not mind starting with starts.
