Pushing citrus in the ground

Back in spring I planted my Meyer and Armstrong satsuma in the ground by my greenhouse. My plan for protection was simple. 2 layers of frost cloth and 1 tarp pulled over at night with 1 strand of C9 Christmas lights that come on below 38. So far I can maintain a 16 degrees difference over the outside air temps. If we get much below 20 I'll add another layer of cloth. This pic is from the other morning of 14f. My Meyer is having a small bloom right now

Thanks. Been on Facebook more than here lately. So far doing good. Finicky Meyer is yellowing a little. I have plans to expand it. Here is from today

Fantastic Mike. I hope this works out well for you. My bet is you get a whole lot more sunlight than any of us east of the Mississippi river and north of the Ohio river. Glad to see you back

Looks a little underfed,,,, no new growth; but flowers, indicates the plant is stressed.

Laura, I'll keep building a taller hoop. Also designing a block wall behind them and on each side leaving the south side open. Probably dry stack the top half so it can be pulled down easily

John That's what I was thinking. I Fed it the other day. When I had it in a pot it did much better so I'm still working on the fertilizer required for it in the ground.

I am using a Pelonis ceramic disc heater that when set a 50F runs at 350 watts max for my outdoor New Zealand lemonade tree. All my other heater run at 1000 Watts at any setting so I considered them a bad choice.
