Finished Top for Charity

Someone donated this top to my Quilt Guild & I was asked to put a back on it. I thought it charming & couldn't find anything big enough for a back so I pieced one, then quilted & bound it. Lovely little lap warmer for a small person.

nice little project, I sewed down the binding while riding the Subway, useful chunk of time.

Unfortunately the meeting scheduled for yesterday was canceled due to snow & I didn't see the email saying so. I didn't know so I trudged into NYC w / fresh baked goods for a holiday meeting & this quilt done & ready to turn in for Charity. Arghhh.

Ended up trudging over to 2 of our local quilt shops to share some of the baked goods, so that felt better.

Thanks all for the kind words, yes some little one will enjoy it; it feels happy & calming to me.

For the back, I saw charity table fat quarters of related colors so I decided to just play w/those.

Working in others folks' colors & design taste always yields interesting lessons. Takes a while for me to distill what the lesson was. In this one it seems it was how to quilt it, to support its own design w/out distracting from it.

In this, the central print gave the idea of how to quilt it: the height of the rows in the print, the width of the peaked hills suggested column width.
