'Green' roofing dystem

Some friends are building a home. Florida. A 'reflective' material has been placed over the paper underlayment. This particular brand is unknown to me and I am trying to investigate if it is something I may consider. Their house and mine will have metal roofs. The roofing company and reflective material are the same name 'Godwin' of Gainesville, Fl. As I will be building later in 2018 I would like to know what ALL OF YOU think!! Is this material good for reflecting heat? It does not look thick in any way- not like foil 'bubblewrap' that is sometimes used on water heaters. There will be attic insulation on this house. I could not find info on their website. Does this need to be overlapped- in the pictures you can see gaps. Thank you. Hope these 3 pictures load. content://media/external/file/5850
