I like the easy access of pot racks, though ours are mounted on walls by the stove instead of hanging from the ceiling. I think the trend these days is away from the visual clutter of the over-island pot rack, though plenty of kitchens have them (including those of professional chefs). So I'd evaluate how you use your kitchen and whether you appreciate the convenience of access and storage space savings that it provides.

To me they are visually distracting.

I would remove it because at least in the angle of these photos, it is interfering with the new pendant lights and looks crowded. I like the racks when they are the only thing above the island or have the lights built in.

Remove it. Looks cluttered. Remove anything on counter you do not use everyday.
