Tile Material Question

Our builder is going to be retiling this shower as it was not laid properly. However, he is refusing to use any materials other than a tumbled masso tile because he says the edge will be too "rough" and it could cause an injury. This is really hard to believe, so I am seeking advice on what types of tile could be used. We also have a zero entry shower and he says he can only use a 2x2 masso tumbled tile and nothing on a sheet. I dont personally preder the tumbled look so just wondering if this could really be my only option? Thanks for any advice.

Walk away. Or be prepared immediately after closing to spend 10K per wet area to tear them all out and start over.

Note - the tile area I am askimg about is for the area where the door of the shower would be. hes willing to do a non tumbled tile on the wall

refer to the detaied tile "scope of work" in your contract and tell us what that says about selections

thats a selective photo, lets see the whole mess.

Are you sure they are capable of better? when i see novice work and then read zero entrty it begs the bigger question of whats all underneath

Here is an image of the floor that needs to be done. The builder is also telling me they will lay the new tile over the old tile. My contract just says "builder's selection" - I am willing to pay for other materials but builder seems unwilling to even use them

Have a professional tile shop give you a quote to redo shower. Try for a cash settlement as close to that amount as possible to let the builder walk away. Either way you are better to pay the extra now. It appears your builder is not capable of a proper install. Any in progress photo's would be very helpful. As others stated. What's underneath is crucial.

The last builder I laughed at, He had 9 subway walk in showers, wanted to give me all of the work that was to total 11k (his number) Yet A gracious builder he was as he would supply the tile and give me 3 weeks to complete the jobs... Yep he found someone and people will buy those messes.. cant ever warn people enough to stay away from builder grade homes.
