Absolutely not! Soaker tubs .. with jets .. got to have 'em!

a lot of people prefer a large shower and are willing to forgo the tub to get one. that's the main reason you see less tubs in MB's now.

some of the big jetted tubs -- like the ones you saw in the 90's -- have fallen out of favor (I have a realtor friend that says she cringes everytime she sees one 'cause younger buyers hate them). but if you enjoy taking a bath, then you should by all means include a deep soaker tub in your remodel.

Everyone I know who has done a master bath remodel recently has taken out the tub and put in a large shower. But I think this is more about lifestyle than in or out (I wish I had time to soak in the tub!). We all had tubs elsewhere in the home for bathing kids and never used it ourselves.

I am a tub person. I'll always have a soaker tub in my master.

That being said, some tubs are completely worthless IMO. For me, a tub in the master has to be large enough to really be a soaker. The smaller tubs that you generally see in kids and second baths just don't work. If you have room to do a shower the size you want AND a soaker tub I think that's a good thing. I wouldn't sacrifice the size on either though just to be able to have both.
