Elkay Quartz Farmhouse Sink

Thinking of replacing our stainless steel sink with a farmhouse style sink.. Originally, was going with a Fireclay sink, but now thinking about a composite Quartz sink made by Elkay. ELXUFP3620. Cost is about the same. Quartz only weighs about 60 pounds compared to Fireclay which is about twice as heavy.

If your existing sink cutout has a a front rail, that and the cabinet will have to be cut to install the Elkay. You'll have to tap the cabinet front off to get the sink in. Disregard Elkay's sink clip installation method, please. You want to strap the sink in place with a Hercules Universal Sink Harness or a Sink Strap or two. Like this.

Is the Elkay a short apron sink? If you want a farm sink but have a standard sink base cabinet, you will want a short apron sink or you will need to rework your sink base cabinet and get new doors (or skirt the sink.)

The Kohler Whitehaven and the Kohler Vault both come in a short apron style and can be installed on a standard sink base cabinet. There might be others - if so, Joe might know.

Enough with the farmhouse sink thing really do you have a farm house probably not . A good stainless sink will always be the best choice IMO for any kitchen

I'm a fan of the Kohler Whitehaven apron front sink, too. Looks great and is undermounted with an apron front. I think a quartz sink will be dated looking very quickly.

Our home is a 1892 Victorian and don't think the farmhouse sink would look out of place. When we replace the sink we will also be replacing the counter tops with Ceasarstone White Attica. The sink will be Elkay's white Ricotta.

Is that a short apron farm sink, or do you plan on reworking your sink base cabinet?

Apron front dimensions for the Elkay sink are 6 9/16". So ,there should be no installation problems other than cutting the center post and taking out the top cross bar. The Kohler Whitehaven short apron front is 6 11/16".

Sounds good:) I am glad to know there is another short apron out there.

jhmarie, can you explain why you think a quartz sink would be dated looking very quickly? I am considering the Elkay quartz farmhouse sink.

Like subway tile and the classic little black dress, apron front sinks have been around for hundreds of years. Some things never go out of style. You will not regret the Elkay Quartz Luxe apron front sink.

Saniya - I do not think I have ever said a quartz farm sink would be dated looking. I have a farm sink and love it. Patricia commented and she is not fond of them herself but will do one if her client wishes.

Could you tell me what size sink in what size base cabinet? Elkay says you can fit a 36” sink in a 36” base cabinet but our contractor is not sure.

A 36" short apron sink fits into a 36" standard cabinet. I've done it hundreds of times. Show your contractor the pictures 6 posts up please; that's what that is.
