We are building a new house and are trying to decide on kitchen island and surrounding countertop material. Leaning towards a Vermont white granite for center island and either Absolute black honed granite or soapstone for the surrounding countertops. I've heard that honed black granite can be tricky and not convinced about soapstone. Also considering "Glassos" for island in crystal white, a recycled glass countertop which is very popular these days.
