Anything other than Florescent! How about more recessed lights? Or the new 3/8" thick LED wafers? Stick with something around 3000K and place them so they fall in front of you standing at the counters. And go with high lumens that can be dimmed.

Definitely more recessed lighting all around and under cabinet lights.

IMO since you are near the end I would do anice simple track light and patch the ceiling where it is needed , too bad during the redo you did not get a counter depth fridge.

I doubt you want to start carving up the ceiling for more recessed lighting at this stage? This should have been considered at the beginning of reno, not at the finish. All you will need is a paint touch up to ceiling with a single flush.

incandescent or led below. Will give you 180 watts incand.

I'd also try and get some under cabinet light...........you are in the dark.

Patricia, thanks for the advise. We purchased a fixer upper and have been doing most work ourselves. Wish we would have purchased counter depth fridge.
Also wondering what to do with window. Frame it out? It has blinds now. Love the privacy in the evening and open during the day let’s in much needed light.

Since your space is so simple why not a nice roman shade in a fabric print for a bit of color.

A retro-fit track light for the ceiling and some LED strips for under the upper cabinets. If there is anything to see out that window, you might try top down/bottom up shades to control privacy, light and enjoy view.
