Sandyslopes, I have had no trouble at all with Dream Weaver and Dream Queen, the hosta database says Dream Queen is "Halfway in between two outstanding hostas - the all-blue 'Elegans' and the finicky gold-centered 'Great Expectations' . Great Expectations has been a real challenge for me but I would recommend either of the 'Dreams'!

Your Dinner Mint sure is pretty Peren.all. I love seeing it at the different stages.

Barb, it must have been the relationship to GE that had me thinking the Dreams were difficult... oh, and that I have them both and they're scrawny, lol. Both are in way too much shade so that could be my problem with them. Seeing all these great looking ones shows me how nice they should look.

Dancing Queen is on my list, but I think I already bought enough for the moment :-) We will see how much room is left after this very wet winter...

Karin..I love cats but don't have any (husband has allergies)..we've had extremely cold temperatures..normally not too worried about my plants but this bitter cold could be destructive..

I'd like to have freezing temperatures because here it is like in spring, but raining day by day and yesterday we had a heavy storm and the water is high in the river :-( the groundwater comes up to the surface and it is like walking on a swamp in the garden...even the grass is dying in some places.

Dave in the UK, is Danica Poul supposed to have uneven coloration, or is it frost damage or disease? Also, could you please tell me what beauty is pictured to the right of Delta Dawn? We're only 4 letters into the alphabet, and I already have 12 names on the list...with no room to plant much of anything else (don't we all say that though?). Guess I'm in slight trouble.

Nicholsworth and Karin, here I was "complaining" about the warm winters we had and how the plants kept waking up throughout...guess the current winter chill is making up for all of that heat now, yikes. Of course this is the winter I chose to leave a few hostas outdoors still in pots.

Love everyone's Dream Queens! Got a nice-size one last Spring, but it struggled with rotting so not sure it'll return. Thought it was bouncing back after cleaning/disinfecting, only to realize towards the end of the season that I was mistaken. Got a Dream Weaver and Thunderbolt too since I apparently like that "family," but those two are much smaller/younger...it was the Dream Queen that "should have" done the best. Now I can just hope for the best.

Karin..gardeners love rain but you have too much of a good thing don't you?..hope you get some dry days..we do have some snow to help insulate the plants from the cold..hostas are tough..maybe neither of us will have any problems!.

Pampered Peeps, Danica Poul is an odd one that was a gift to me from a Danish Nursery who I had spent quite a lot of money with. On first sight it looks as if it may be infected with HVX. It has been tested many times and come back negative. In spring each vein is a darker green than the surrounding tissue. As the year progresses it all darkens to the same colour. It is fertile but I haven't found a seedling yet that carries this trait.

I used moss last year in some pots and it looks really nice. Driftwood is another of my favourites. The water was high a few weeks ago and I should go looking...
