    Hi nschucky,

    These hanging lanterns in this patio setting were hung from a patio wood overhang. Shown attached here is another style of pendant lanterns hung using the same method.

    Another, more popular application of outdoor hanging lanterns would be on a covered patio, verandah, entrance-way, gazebo or cabana.
