I think it depends on if you want the hearth area to stand out as a defined area and also how much work and creativity you want to put into it. if you want it to stand out then you could do a border tile that's a couple of inches wide going around the perimeter and then do a tile or travertine inside of that area that compliments your "wood tile" or you could build a raised hearth box out of wood 3 or 4 inches high and cover it with an accent tile on the sides and put your "wood tile" on the top of it. In order to do that you would probably have to notch out at least 3-4 inches from the bottom of your wood surround so your raised hearth would but up against your fireplace but if you just want to keep it simple, run your "wood tile" all the way up to the fireplace. it's up to you. I'm just putting some ideas out there!

Thank you! Personally I like my fireplace hearth area to stand out but I think running the tile up to the fireplace would look fine, cutting around the wood surround may be a little tricky. I love the wood tile that you selected BTW, really nice!
