I know this is shallow reasoning, but we chose Xenon puck lights because they echoed the recessed lighting in our ceiling and thus created a unified visual effect. But this was 4 years ago when LEDs were more expensive. I'd look into LED options too, as that would have been our choice if the prices were then what they are today.

Our cabinet maker talked us out of puck lights and into LED. My husband is a big "quality of light" person, and was worried about the LED's, but we went to look at them in a kitchen showroom and he is now a believer.

Cabinets won't be installed until July, so I can't speak from anymore personal experience then that.

I have xenon in kitchen, pain the a** to change the bulb.

Went with LED for laundry room re-do, was told the bulbs last forever.

We are still using the Xenon lighting - primarily because the LED lighting is still so stark and white and because we continue to have issues getting dimmers to work with LED lights.
