It would help if your included photos could be seen in a larger size when clicked.

I like your living room layout. Maybe a smaller side table next to the chair by the front door - a small coffee table or ottoman might replace the need for one at all. Artwork on the blank wall would be nice.

Is there a sofa in the dining room? I'm guessing if there is no light fixture above the dining table, it was previously used as a family room? I think it's important to improve the lighting situation in there.

It's hard to see what's going on in the space opposite the kitchen that you say adjoins your neighbor, but that must be the area that was designated for dining since it has a chandelier. You could put your computer desk in there. Then you could put a console table with a lamp and potted plant in the space where you currently have your desk, and hang a mirror on the wall above it. It's nice to have a place to set your keys/wallet/purse when entering the house.

If moving the desk is not an option, is it possible you need the space by the kitchen for a pantry? Not sure if kitchen storage is an issue.
