Thanks all, as for lighting the green tape on the ceiling are now pot lights and we have plans for an updated fixture. Suggestions are welcome. The spindles are gone and so is the low ceiling. I splurged on hot water on demand, a touchless tap and quartz backsplash and countertops. I saved using non-built-in appliance. Got a great deal on the quartz. Paid a bit more for the solid 3/4inch plywood cabinets, smooth slide doors and drawers. I even have something called magic corners so that the corners are not lost. Overal, cost just over 20. I can't take alot of the credit, it was designed and executed by a wonderful cabinet maker in Edmonton
