I'm using a centrifugal duct fan (commonly used in hydroponics ventilation) as a ventilation fan in my crawlspace. It is run continuously 24/7. I don't want to have to go into the crawlspace often to check or replace the fan, so durability is important.

There are at least a dozen or more brands to choose. Using a 6 inch duct size as an example, the price range from $52 to $185.

Has anyone done tests on durability of these fans?

And when a duct fan dies, does it quit peacefully, or does it fly apart?
