Your very lucky to now have something from your parents every Christmas. Great idea using bulbs that way !!!

I have a box of those pointed lights....somewhere in this house....and I also have a couple of strings of the larger old lights...look like a 40 watt light bulb! LOL!

and I have a stack of those reflectors and a bunch of scrap ornaments trimmed with tinsel.....but I have never seen those crystal stars.
Please take a picture of them without the light bulbs, so if I should find some at a sale I will know what they are. Are they really glass?!!

Lindac92, the stars are definitely glass, and the points are very sharp! The blue and yellow one has a double row of points, while the red and green one has a single row, including one that is somewhat loose. All of the glass parts are faceted. On the backs, you can see the metal prongs that held the light bulbs.

Never saw anything like that....but would sure like to have some! I think that if I did run across some, I would think they might be part of a curtian tie back....

If I hadn't found them in a box of Christmas lights, I would not have had a clue what they are!

If those stars are relatively large compared to the average decoration, those would have been placed at the top of the tree.

While they are beautiful, I would be cautious about using them due to potential fire hazard. Even old lamps have to be rewired. Only use if you are present in the room and then maintain a charged fire extinguisher should something happen. I personally would not use them due to old wiring not being safe.

bellburgmaggie, thank you for the reminder. I have not even attempted to plug in any of the lights for fear of fire. The crystal stars I photographed on my tree have no lights attached and were just placed on top of my tree lights.

I collect antique lamps and we have a store here that rewires lamps by a licensed electrician. I would simply pay to have the strings inspected and then if they pass, only have them on when you are present. When I get in old lamps, I don’t even plug them in until inspected and if necessary rewired. If it passes, enjoy your beautiful acquisition.
