Cleaning staghorn fern leaves

Hi everyone. I have a staghorn fern that's thriving in my kitchen window. But I have noticed some oily buildup on the leaves (presumably from cooking particles).

Since this can clog the plant's leaves I would like to use a soft, damp cloth with just a touch of dish soap to clean them followed by a spray rinse. Is this a bad idea? How critical are the hairs on the leaves, since this will likely remove at least some?

Thanks!
